Any medical care provider or dentist who treats you should know that you are taking a seizure medication.
Topiramate Dosing Information
Recommended dose (as adjunctive therapy): 200 mg/day to 400 mg/day in two divided doses. It is recommended that therapy be initiated at 25 to 50 mg/day followed by titration to an effective dose in increments of 25 to 50 mg/week. Titrating in increments of 25 mg/week may delay the time to reach an effective dose. Daily doses above 1,600 mg have not been studied. Recommended dose (as monotherapy): 400 mg/day in two divided doses. It is recommended that therapy be initiated at 25 twice a day followed by titration to an effective dose in increments of 50 mg/week (once weekly increases of 25 mg twice a day).
Before you take Generic Topamax
ou should not use topiramate if you are allergic to it. To make sure you can safely take topiramate, tell your doctor if you have any of these other conditions: kidney disease or a history of kidney stones; liver disease; glaucoma; a history of depression or suicide attempt; a growth disorder; a history of metabolic acidosis; osteoporosis or low bone density; asthma, emphysema, or other breathing disorder; or if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant while using topiramate. If you are not planning a pregnancy while taking topiramate, use effective birth control, and tell your doctor if you become pregnant during treatment. Topiramate can pass into breast milk and may harm a nursing baby. Do not use this medication without telling your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby.
